Shipmates' Symposium 37 Association of the United States Navy Please note that for the vision options, you must be enrolled in TRICARE in order to select any one of these. e list of insurers — all PPOs — includes: ❑ Aetna Vision Preferred ❑ FEP Blue Vision ❑ UnitedHealthcare Vision ❑ Vision Service Plan During the open season enrollment period, if you cannot use OPM's BENEFEDS website, you can call between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. Eastern, Monday through Friday. Outside of the open season, you can call between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Eastern, Monday through Friday: 1-877-888-FEDS (1-877-888-3337), TTY 1-877-889-5680 Another important note, due to changes installed on Jan. 1, 2018, TRICARE Select has replaced TRICARE Standard and TRICARE Extra. Active- duty service members must remain on TRICARE Prime as well as TRICARE-for-Life (over age 65) retirees, whether former active-duty or Reserve members. TRICARE Prime is more like an HMO and you pay more for service outside the military medical system. TRICARE Select allows you to manage your own care, paying a fixed fee instead of a percentage, and does not require as many referrals to health care providers you may want to use who are non-Department of Defense. ere will be a possibly significant increase in deductibles/fees because Congress, rather than phasing in this change in TRICARE, may have just approved an immediate change for all, especially retirees who might otherwise have been grandfathered. You can read more about this using the links provided here: ❑ www.military.com/militaryadvantage/2018/06/15/ senate-tricare-plan-would-dramatically-raise- some-retiree-costs.html ❑ tricare.mil/CoveredServices/BenefitUpdates/ Archives/03_22_18_Compare_Plans Be sure to go to TRICARE's website to learn more about the dental, vision and TRICARE plan options. Brochures in PDF format are available to be down- loaded. CAPT Marylynn Marrese, MSC (Ph.D.), USN (Ret.), and Master Chief (SS/AW) Michael Niblack, USN (Ret.) are volunteer co-directors of AUSN's Military and Veterans Benefits Department.
