We're also going to move towards a more asyn- chronous type of healthcare. So… no matter what time of the day or night it is, you'll be able to reach out and touch somebody either through some kind of electronic interface...like a Skype or Facetime, I think you're going to see more and more of that. So a Sailor out on a ship can be seen by the GMO [General Medical Officer] or independent duty corpsman and that corpsman is Face- timing with somebody here at Walter Reed or San Diego or Portsmouth, saying "Here's what I've got, what does this look like? What's the best way of treating this?" I think we're also going to be employing robotics in much more comprehensive ways… right now we do robotics from two rooms down, but what would happen if we needed to do robotics and the patient is a world away? When you look at technology and you look at electronics, and you look at the digital age, or the digital achievements that we're getting, I think we just have to keep challenging ourselves and saying, "How could we use that in the medical space?" and "How does that help us be the strongest military or the strongest Navy in the world?" We need to challenge ourselves to continue to seek out those unknowns because I think that's where the opportunity is. I think that the sky is the limit and I'm very excited to be a part of it right now. n Diana B. West can be found on LinkedIn and on Twitter @DianaeWriter.
